Hi, this is against everyone with Connor Habib, a weekly podcast featuring my conversations

with countercultural figures and presenting complex, spiritual, philosophical, and political

ideas in an engaging and accessible way. Well, friends, we are heading into another lockdown

here in Ireland, where I live, and a lot of what's happening in Europe in general is a

return to conditions of earlier this year. And of course, the U.S. is heading towards its election,

and people are being banned on social media, and other people are gaining power who we don't

want to gain power, and everyone is just trying to cope. Amongst all this, I've spotted a problem

or a challenge, and I wanted to talk about it a bit as I move into introducing this episode with

Paul Check. The problem, or I should say, the spiritual challenge of the current crisis we're in is largely untalked about

and it's very dangerous. It's the state of absolute yet unearned certainty, which is accompanying

so much of the way we talk to each other, the way we think about others, and the way we form our lives

and responses to what's happening in the world right now. I want to be clear about something.

I'm not just talking about the absolute unearned certainty that people who are just imbibing

and spitting out the mainstream narrative have.

And that's the problem. I'm noticing this same kind of certainty show up in some of the most

spiritually evolved and politically active and intellectually developed people, the people who know

the most about science or alternative

versions of health, or who are creating revolutionary narratives, usually, the ones who rebel

against inherited truths.

I know that these people are putting forth their various narratives with a sense of total certainty,

often accompanied with a sense of intense emotion. So these are some of the people I love and

trust for most things, but I see it's like the presence of a being walking around with them
