Winter has come for AEW Dynamite. Tonight was the, I believe this was the third annual.

Winter is coming, addition to AEW Dynamite. They were in Texas tonight, a very hot crowd,

for a made event, winner take all, MJF defending the AEW World Championship and his Dynamite Diamond ring

against absolute Ricky Starks, the biggest match of Ricky Starks career. Did he win the championship? No, of course not.

Of course he did not win the title, but what we did have besides, you know, good made event.

We had the setup for who is going to be the next challenger for the AEW World Championship.

That is going to be Brian Danielson, the American Dragon. Not a big surprise given the angle they shot with William Regal a few weeks ago.

I think we all expected that Danielson was going to be next in line for a shot at the title, but Ricky went in there tonight.

He had a good made event and my hope coming out of this match is that Tony Khan does not forget Ricky Starks.

Because the build to this was very brief, but obviously they had that in ring segment last week that was absolute fire.

It's tremendous. MJF always goes out there. He always tears people down on the microphone.

Ricky Starks is one of the few who went out there and just ethered him on the mic.

But they only had a one week build realistically was one week build. I'd like to see them do more here the finish they did.

MJF kicking him in the balls, rolling him up and pinning him. It does leave the door open for them to come back to this at some point.

I hope they do. I will tell you though, you know, last week was talking about the diamond ring and talking about the fact that I didn't really understand why the diamond ring was on the line in this match.

Since the winner of the battle royal could pick and choose the date and time in which he would challenge MJF for the ring.

So why not keep the two separate what purpose does it serve having now seen the match and having now seen how things played out.

I can sit here honestly and tell you I still have no idea why they decided to make this winner take.

Other than the fact that the diamond ring purely exists as part of MJF's gimmick, it's pretty clear at this point.

Four years in a row MJF has won the diamond ring. The diamond ring ain't going nowhere else.

MJF is going to win the diamond ring again next year and if you still around the year after that.

That's pretty clear, but I still do not understand why you wouldn't separate the two.
