Amanda tell us a little bit about Advent. Okay if this is your first Advent with us

Advent is simply a season on the church calendar.

And the church calendar is a way that the church with a capital C for centuries has sort of

structured the year to orient themselves to Jesus

and to the gospel and to the Lord and so Advent is the season leading up to

Christmas Day and the word means arrival and that's what

we will do in this reading plan we will talk about the arrival of Jesus and we will anticipate his second Advent, his second arrival.

That's exactly right and here we are at the arrival of Advent.

And for this first week we are joined by a dear friend Beth Redmond is with us. She is a Bible teacher, disciple maker. She is a woman who loves God and his word and her family. She is a mom to five as she puts it and wife to Matt Redmond and she is just

such a fantastic first guest for this series. You're going to love everything that she has to say.
