My name is Kevin Espiritu and I'm joined again by Joel

Carston. Joel is the pioneer of the Straw Vale Gardening method. We've talked about

both how he sort of came across it in his life and some of the basics of the method.

And now let's answer the question Joel.

Let's say someone's looking at raised beds or looking at container gardens, maybe even hydroponics, something like that, and you

want to sway them.

What are some advantages specific to Stravale gardening that might really change their mind?

Well, first of all, it's much less expensive to get started doing

straw-bell gardening and I understand depending on where you live, bales might be

five dollars or ten dollars or whatever, but if you compare the size of the bale and how many plants you can grow in one

bail compared to building a raised bed or any type of a container garden, it's much more economical

to do straw veil gardening than almost any other type of raised batter container

gardening.

Secondly, the biggest benefit is that there's no weeds. I've gotten emails and we get lots of

posts in our social media from people who've never done strawberry before so this

is their first year and they'll write things like I'm so upset I didn't start doing this 20 years ago because I've gone the whole season and I haven't pulled any weeds in my vegetable garden.

This is the greatest thing ever.

And then the comment I really love is, I'll never go back to planting in the soil ever again. That might be a little

drastic, but it is very flattering when they say things like that because there's
