Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by podcaster, author, musician and all round lovely human ADAM BUXTON!
A home run of an episode right here as Pip checks in with original podcast homie Adam on all things! And it really is all things, but most pertinent at this moment in time is Adam's new album of full song material 'Buckle Up' - something he's been hinting at for ages on his own podcast (and we all hoped for, on the strength of the jingles), and now has its own home on Decca Records no less. A lot of lovely behind the scenes action on that, but Pip and Adam also check in on such items as the act of sharing with guests on a podcast, Werner Herzog's Zoom odyssey, clashes of guest bookings and the hierarchy of talent, the Clipse parallel, losing loved ones and authoring books, to honest or not to honest, taking people up on help offers, sitting with things and not avoiding them, major label biz, the genesis of songs (not the songs of Genesis), being the right side of annoying and playing your own music for folks. So much goodness and gems and all sorts on here, you're in the company of the pro's with this one - sit back and relax and enjoy. We love you. BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

ROGER SCRUTON ("Boom goes the brainbox")
SILVER JEWS ('American Water' - lovely album)

| 0:00.0 | Welcome, welcome, welcome. This is the distraction pieces podcast episode 639. And look who I'm joined by. I'm joined by podcast royalty. Adam Buxton. I love Adam. We've known each other for years. The last couple of podcast interactions or kind of interactions have been over Zoom, so we were delighted |
| 0:22.7 | to be able to get in a room together and have a good old conversation. |
| 0:26.5 | And we both dragged ourselves into London from Essex and Norfolk, respectively, so that we |
| 0:34.0 | could be eye-to-eye face-to-face, beard for this wonderful conversation. |
| 0:40.2 | And we get into a lot of things, but I wanted to talk to Adam about his album, buckle up, |
| 0:46.4 | because it's a weird one. |
| 0:47.3 | And I get into it, but I had James Acosta on the podcast when he had an album out, |
| 0:51.4 | because it's an odd situation as a comedian to be putting out |
| 0:54.4 | an album. And Adams is more rooted in humour than James's was, but still, it's a weird situation, |
| 1:00.7 | weird thing to talk about. So I like, as this isn't strictly a comedy podcast, I like to |
| 1:06.5 | offer up the platform as a place to kind of, you know, really get into it. And we get into it. |
| 1:12.7 | We don't only talk about that. We talk about podcasts and podcasting and mental health and being |
| 1:18.1 | old and grey and balding, all the fun stuff, essentially. But yeah, I really love this conversation. |
| 1:26.1 | We talk a little bit about how these songs will exist in a |
| 1:30.2 | live situation and how exciting it is for Adam to be doing live gigs as the frontman of the |
| 1:36.9 | Adam Buxton band. And as this comes out, if there's tickets left, you can head along to their two |
| 1:43.6 | shows at the Norwich Arts Centre, a |
| 1:46.3 | wonderful venue. I gig there back in the day. The 13th and 14th of October, head to Adam's website, |
| 1:53.2 | Adam-Buckston.com.uk. And you can grab some tickets for that what sounds like. |
| 2:02.2 | It's just going to be a hell of a good time. |
| 2:09.4 | I mean, the detail Adam goes into on the website is that we're playing another couple of shows and then in brackets, roughly 75 minutes each, same set each night, songs from Buckle Up |
| 2:14.4 | and one or two covers. |
