Five states held primary elections, Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, and Washington,

statewide primary elections.

Yes, Ohio also held some state legislative races.

But this was really the first of several rounds of August primaries that will give us an

up close look into the tensions and splits within both parties, but really, mostly on the

right.

Obviously, the big story from Tuesday night was Kansas, where voters turned out in big

numbers, general election numbers in the middle of August to vote down a referendum

that would have essentially allowed the Kansas legislature to impose abortion restrictions.

It didn't matter, but it was a rural county or a Biden county.

Once the state voters came out in an overwhelming force to block this measure.

Seems like even in the rural county, the no vote outperformed by basically by 15 points.

In counties E1, they went from 52 to 68, and in counties E lost, they went from, say, 18

But in either case, it was almost across the board.

They sent a message to the Republican state leadership that they were simply going too
