| 0:28.0 | Hey friends, Greg Kogel here at Standard Reason. I thank you for joining me today. I look forward to chatting in one way or another with you. |
| 0:38.0 | We have actually some caller on board right out of the gate and we've got a whole bunch of open mic calls to fall back on here. |
| 0:48.0 | And so I'm looking forward to the challenge of the challenges that you offer me and hope it will be productive for you. |
| 0:55.0 | We call it Standard Reason because my goal is to stand to reason for classical Christianity and classical Christianity, classical Christian values, which is one thing I'm going to start out with here in just a moment, but I like to call it Christianity worth thinking about. |
| 1:15.0 | It's amazing how many folk, especially when you read online blogs or see memes or TikToks or whatever, how many people think that there's nothing worth thinking about with regarding Christianity. |
| 1:32.0 | And that is, it's not a thoughtful religion. And the irony is, I have somewhere, what 11 volume set of cobblestone's history of philosophy going from the ancients all the way to the modern era. |
| 1:49.0 | And it's classical work. In other words, it's a standard thing if you're in philosophy, if you study that this is required reading or at least you need to have it on your bookshelf with a lot of volumes there. |
| 2:01.0 | But after the time of Christ, virtually every single philosopher in that history of philosophy up until about the 19th century was a biblical theist. |
| 2:17.0 | In other words, the greatest thinkers of Western civilization were Christians and understood the world the way the Bible describes it. And also were of the conviction that the scripture adequately and accurately describes the world as it really is. |
| 2:39.0 | So just that's part of why we're here Christianity were thinking about stand to reason. Now there's something though that I encountered recently a couple days ago that doesn't stand to my reason at all. |
| 2:54.0 | At a conversation with someone who was involved in the local what we used to call CPCs, which is a crisis pregnancy center. In fact, it was a CPC where I met my wife. |
| 3:07.0 | So I was in Kineho Valley actually lived in the West End. We call South Bay actually the area of the Los Angeles in the Los Angeles area called the South Bay where I live. |
| 3:21.0 | Redondo Beach. And my wife was about an hour away where we live now and she was employed by a CPC who had asked me in 1992 to do their banquet to be the featured speaker at their fundraising banquet. |
| 3:41.0 | I've done that many, many, many times since then, but their goal was to provide services for women who decide to carry their children and especially to let people know women know that if they are pregnant in an unwanted pregnancy, there are other alternatives that abortion. |
| 4:07.0 | And so the greatest interest was to help abortion-minded women change their mind, carry to term and help them to do that. Make it possible for them to do that. Ease the burden. |
| 4:25.0 | The difficulty right now, that was 27, 28 years ago, but the difficulty now, this woman is explaining to me who's the director of a CPC. I don't know if they really call them that anymore. They have different ways of characterizing it, but she's having a hard time getting help, support, encouragement, financial aid from the local church community. |
| 4:54.0 | And I don't mean just from the individual people, but the local churches. In other words, here are local churches that are organized religious groups, Christian groups that have a commitment to a biblical worldview, which entails, I'm not even going to say arguably, I'm not going to say you could make a case for. |
| 5:18.0 | I'm saying the biblical worldview entails the idea that abortion takes the life of an innocent human being without proper justification, therefore from God's perspective, it's murder, violation of what the Sixth Commandment. |
| 5:33.0 | Okay, now I've made this case before, so I'm not going to give any, you know, in a certain sense, wiggle room to people who say their Christians, they believe in the Bible, but they're not sure that abortion is wrong. |
| 5:48.0 | All you have to do is go to Luke chapter 2, and there is John the Baptist in the third trimester, leaping with joy and filled with, I'm sorry, second end of the second trimester, leaping with joy, filled with the Holy Spirit, |
| 6:02.0 | because he is in the presence of Jesus, who is a zygote at that particular point. |
