0:00.0	Well, hello there. My name is Morgan Harper Nichols. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space
0:07.7	where I share poetry and prose that I hope can make a little room for you to slow down and take a few
0:15.4	deep breaths as you prepare for whatever lies ahead. And today's piece is called,
0:21.9	Abandon the Hendrance of Regret and Grow in the Grace of a New Song.
0:29.5	Today's piece was written as a response to a reader question.
0:34.3	Respond artistically to someone who is experiencing regret.
0:39.3	And here's the answer.
0:42.3	I think one of the heaviest burdens of human imagination might be the ability to have hindsight.
0:51.3	After it's all over, events in the past start to seem a lot more predictable
0:58.9	than they actually were. In full color, we start to see what life would have looked like if we had
1:07.7	taken the leap or if we had not taken the leap. We can pinpoint the conversations
1:13.5	that should have shown us the clues that everything was about to go terribly wrong. We can feel
1:20.3	the weight of the actions that should have been a big hint. I know that not everyone looks back and thinks about all that went wrong,
1:30.6	but respectfully for this moment, I'm talking to those who do deal with this. If you don't look
1:38.2	on the past and see things that you wish you could have changed, then I think that's a beautiful
1:43.1	place to be.
1:45.0	However, if you're on the other side of it
1:47.6	and you are looking back with regret,
1:50.0	I just want you to know this first.
1:52.6	There is no shame.
1:56.0	Perhaps at some point in your life,
1:58.7	you have received some variation of this message. Live life with no regrets.
