We've accomplished a lot to change the world around this.

0:10.6

We've developed agriculture and technology and industry and frozen yogurt.

0:18.0

It seems pretty good.

0:19.7

Feels really good to sit at the top of the food chain.

0:22.6

We've spread to all seven continents in every possible climate. We dive under the oceans and we

over the earth. We can't control the weather, but we can predict it with actually frightening

0:33.2

accuracy when you think about how complicated the weather is, but that's a different episode.

0:37.4

We've eradicated diseases. And then we brought some back just for fun, I guess.

0:42.6

We've made our homes comfortable wherever we place them.

0:45.5

Like, I can just have the temperature I want inside my home, and that's pretty cool.

0:49.8

We've measured and recorded every possible facet of the earth and life on it,

from the tiniest virus to the ocean currents themselves that span the globe.

1:01.4

Some days it really does feel like we're in charge, doesn't it?

1:05.7

But for all our accomplishments and feats of ingenuity and creativity,

1:09.9

we can't ever forget one simple fact.

1:13.4

In the end, Mother Nature demands respect.

1:20.1

Sometimes nature reminds us not to let our pride turn into arrogance, not to let our

achievements turn into hubris. Nature is still the boss

around here, and sometimes she's going to remind us why. And perhaps the greatest way to

1:36.3

demonstrate that we don't have it all figured out is interstellar travel. Interstellar travel.

1:43.5

Who doesn't dream of traveling among the stars? Really boring
