0:26.5	Andrew Sather. Hey, what's up? I don't know. This is kind of fun to talk about for me, so I'm a weirdo,
0:32.4	but I understand it's not fun for most people. So we'll do our best, right?
0:44.0	Yeah, 100%. There's pros and con. So we have to discuss a disappointing topic, which is downturns.
0:48.2	We always talk about the stock market a ton. We think it's an incredibly powerful, positive tool for a lot of people to affect a ton of financial change in their lives. But it's a fact of life and it's a fact of the market that it's going to turn downwards.
0:58.0	It's going to trend downwards for a while for weeks, for months, for years.
1:03.1	And it's an important topic for that reason to discuss and find ways for people to make their way through it
1:10.6	and even to improve their lives through it and even to improve their lives through it
1:13.3	and also to understand what's happening or why it might be happening.
1:16.9	So to give a bit of an explanation, downturns are usually tracked through things like the S&P 500.
1:22.2	Now that's an index that attempts to track the overall market.
1:26.5	So the S&P 500, for example, takes the top 500 companies
1:30.0	in the stock market, lumps those all into a fund weighted by how large they are, and then that
1:36.2	index is meant to track how the market is performing. So ideally, if the S&P 500 goes up 10%,
1:42.0	the market overall has gone up 10% and whatever other change
1:46.1	you can imagine.
1:47.4	So that helps you get an idea of what's happening with the market.
1:50.4	So that helps us see, well, if the S&P 500 is tracking down maybe 10% over a year or something,
1:55.6	then the market is having some kind of a downturn.
1:59.1	Downturns around like 10 or so percent usually indicate some
