Summary

Desi Perkins launched her YouTube and Instagram profiles to focus on makeup-and people LOVED it. And when she launched a line of sunglasses with a major sunglass brand, people ate that up, too. 0:05.0	In 2016, she had a collab with a major sunglass company.
0:09.0	So they offered me this deal and they said,
0:11.0	it'll just be a quick little three month collaboration.
0:13.3	You'll have about four sunglasses. It'll be great.
0:17.0	While this was originally intended to be a collaboration between Desi and the
0:21.4	Sunglass Company, Desi was way more hands-on.
0:24.0	I showed up to the first meeting with them
0:26.0	and they laid out a bunch of sunglasses on the table.
0:28.0	They said, is there anything that you like here that you can pick,
0:31.0	we can put your name on it, market it, whatever.
0:33.3	I said, I would really love to design my own sunglasses if that's a possibility.
0:38.5	So when it came time to renegotiate their contract, Desi wanted to be recognized as more than a collaborator.

0:51.7	We had met with the company to try and renegotiate a more fair contract
