Barbara Bartolomey about her two near-death experiences.

Her first NDE resulted from a childhood illness at 18 months of age. Her second NDE occurred when

she went into cardiac arrest due to a radiology technician's error during a pre-surgery

diagnostic procedure in 1987.

In this experience, Barbara was able to describe things that happened while she was clinically

dead. These observations were confirmed by medical staff.

Hello, Barbara, and welcome to the podcast. Now, you set up IANs in Santa Barbara. Can you tell us about IANs?

Well, my IANS group is part of a large organization that's a worldwide organization. And so I started my group in 2011. And so we've been running for seven years. We meet monthly and we bring in a guest

speaker that comes and talks about death or afterlife or communication with the afterlife or

near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, shared death experiences so that people that are here in Santa Barbara can, and I draw from all the areas around Santa Barbara, we generally have about 100 people each month that come to the meetings. They can then understand better about death, consciousness, afterlife, and all of the things that that, you know,

brings to our lives. And so the Ions organization started up in 1981, and it primarily was

dedicated to encouraging scientific research and education on both the physical,

psychological, social, and spiritual nature of near-death experiences.

And so there were some researchers that got together and decided Raymond Moody,

Kenneth Ring, Bruce Grayson, and others. And they started this group to kind of

research NDE. Well, over the years, it morphed. And besides promoting research and exploration

and debate on NDE's, they also started up these local groups and now they are, there are about 50 of them
