Summary

TW: All things "vice" related.

Adam and Danielle make it no secret that they have some questionable life choices. Most people won't talk about the taboo aspects of coping mechanisms due to the shame and stigma. But guess what? Life is hard, and we're not all equipped with the healthiest and most acceptable tactics. This is a safe space for anyone who has at times felt shamed for resorting to vices that aren't "healthy" or socially encouraged. In part one of this series, Danielle and Adam discuss how they've walked the tightrope of edgy behavior, and how their privilege has allowed them to do so. They discuss compassion in a world where people are expected to be able to solve problems in a more "productive" and responsible manner. Plus, they go more in depth discussing a vice in which they've both partaken since a young age and how they were first introduced to this substance. If you are going to listen to this episode, please check your judgment at the door. It's a truly honest conversation about elements of life which about which are greatly shameful to speak.

Hey everybody, welcome to Nerd Traumatini's, I'm Adam, here as Daniel.

0:29.2

Hi. Have we not done vices before? Well, I think we talk about them in every. I know, but like,

0:36.2

not themed around, but that seems crazy. Yeah, not no. I mean, there was so much information

0:43.5

that I got in this that I know I've never said before because I didn't know it before.

0:47.1

Okay, I just figured between you and I, we would have had a topic of conversation strictly just about

0:53.6

vices. I mean, look, when I was thinking about this episode, and this is a really stressful week,

1:00.4

we've had a really, really stressful week, um, we'll leave it at that, right? We'll leave

1:04.8

it at that. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So when I was thinking about recording, you know, my head is all

1:12.8

over the place, and this was sort of the only episode I wanted to record. Right. Like, keep it

1:19.3

light and easy and just talk about our vices. And just that this was sort of the only thing that

1:28.4

sometimes gets me through these things, you know, as someone who, you know, is not a person who

1:36.8

meditates or is a yogurt person or anything like I, yeah, you're not the one who does the good

1:44.5

things for you mentally and you go to the opposite group, right? Right. Yeah.

1:52.2

Yeah, I mean, I couldn't go on. So we could do a whole podcast series on this on this topic.

1:58.7

I'm sure. Yeah. And it's so it's all very interesting to me. I'm so interested by all of it in

2:04.5

the history of it and the, you know, the taboo ishness. I don't know what the sure of it. Like,

2:16.8

because there's so much has changed, obviously, for so many health concerns and everything for

2:24.8

the better as a society and everything, a lot of good things have happened, you know, to keep

2:30.0

people healthy and everything. But it's all very nuanced and there's so many layers to it. And,

2:37.1

yeah, I'm very interested in this topic. Okay. I mean, look, there's also like I did some research,

2:42.2

too. There's a lot of hypocrisy going on too, as far as like the whole trying to make us all

2:47.2

healthy. The whole like there's a lot of blood. Yeah, like I said, it's all very nuanced, you know,
