You trying to be a hot-up.

You trying to be a street cop?

Are we into our two-day program heading to Lawrence, New Jersey?

We have to let people through this program come out on top, better cops.

And I just had a thought this morning as I'm driving in and that's my pass it along.

It's going to be brief.

But it is a piece of advice I give to a lot of folks and what triggered is a friend of mine is getting promoted and I gave him

some advice and I want to pass this long to everybody even if you're not a supervisor

now or you're going to be a supervisor or you're currently a supervisor, remember these words.

Don't be the guy or girl that everybody can't wait to see retire.

Be the guy or girl that nobody wants to see retire. Be the guy or girl that nobody wants to see retire. Right? So think

about that. Think about how you were as a newer police officer. Think about as

you're progressing to deploy humility and be good to your

subordinates and to be understanding and to speak with kindness and not sound like a

dick for no reason because you can.

Think about trying to understand how people think.

We're trying to have progression and police work.

We're trying to progressive thinking.

It is a different time now where the way it always has been is no longer a sufficient answer because you will find yourself at the

ass end of a bad set of litigation or case law when you don't progressively
