Welcome to the sports media podcast. I'm your host, Richard Dyche. My producer is Patrick Antonetti. One guest for this episode, but always an excellent one. It is John Lewis, founder and editor of the essential

0:22.0

sports media watch. Before I get to John, I will say thanks so much for the great feedback

0:27.5

that people who listened to this podcast gave me on the conversation I had with Howard Beck

0:33.8

of the Ringer on whether Blue Sky or Threads could one day replace X slash Twitter

0:40.5

as the go-to place for sports content. I am now posting a lot on Blue Sky. It reminds me of

0:48.5

the early days of Twitter. It's great experience. I'm certainly still going to keep my Twitter account.

1:22.9

sports business people there. And with that, I bring in John Lewis, founder and editor of Sports Media Watch.

1:28.5

John, welcome. Hey, thanks for having me. All right, John, here's where I want to start. I want to start

1:32.7

with the big news when it comes to the NBA. And I'm sure, I think you wrote about this.

1:39.3

Obviously, you saw this. But Warner Brothers Discovery and the NBA have settled their acrimony and we'll get to

1:46.1

some of the things that have come out of this. But the most significant thing, at least in

1:49.2

terms of sort of consumers and people who consume the NBA, is that inside the NBA will now

1:56.2

be licensed to ESPN starting next season.

2:07.5

It will be their studio show when it comes to significant stuff like opening day and Christmas and obviously the postseason.
