Today we begin a new series, just four parts, though. It's called a sovereign Lord.

We'll begin with a look at what God wants to do, he can do.

And later, not according to Expectation, part two of our series.

We'll be hearing from Juan Michael's, a friend of Elizabeth,

How would you describe your sovereign lord, Your rock, the ancient of days, the mighty king, the shepherd, the God of mercies, the God of hope. How about the God of all

comfort, your strength, your stronghold? Turn to Hebrews 1 as we begin this series, a sovereign Lord. What God wants to do,

he can do. You are loved with an everlasting love. That's what the Bible says, and underneath are the

everlasting arms. This is your friend Elizabeth Elliott, talking to you this time about what God

wants to do, he can do. We've been using the word sovereignty. God as sovereign means that he is

supreme. He is higher than all, above all. And the doctrine of his sovereignty is a stupendous,

overarching, all-embracing truth about the nature of God. The Bible describes him with many names.

He's a rock. He's the ancient of days. Mighty king, shepherd, father of mercies,
