Hey there, I'm Jack Rodolico, and I helped make Supervision, this podcast that you're about to listen to.

I'm really happy you found Supervision. I can't wait for you to hear it.

And I'm just poking my head up here so I can share a quick word with you.

0:17.5

What you're about to hear is sort of a reboot of supervision. We originally released the podcast in May of 2019. At that time, we told the story of why a man would thrive or fail on parole. We released supervision in four episodes, and we thought we were done. Emily, supervision's host,

0:40.1

wasn't planning on doing more reporting. And then Emily uncovered this new fact. It was something

0:47.6

she could not have known about the story back when we originally released supervision. And once she had discovered the new thing,

0:58.0

it made us realize that the story we'd told was incomplete. So we set out to make a fifth

1:04.4

episode with that new information, which we did. But while we were making that fifth episode,

1:10.5

the new reporting Emily was uncovering,

1:13.1

while it was shifting what the entire story was all about, what had started as a story about

1:18.6

why a man would thrive or fail on parole turned into something much bigger, into a story about

1:25.5

survival, and about just how hard it can be for a reporter to get to the truth.

1:32.4

So we decided to make some changes to those four original episodes.

1:37.2

Changes that would make the whole podcast, all five episodes, reflect the whole story we felt we needed to tell.

1:45.1

What you're about to hear is the rebooted Supervision, the story as it stands in April

2021.

1:51.8

In the interest of transparency, we've posted all those original episodes on our website.

There, you'll also find a note that details why and how we changed what we changed.

2:02.5

That's at supervisionpodcast.com.

2:04.8

And by the way, we're releasing supervision this time as the second season of Document,

2:10.0

which is where you'll find more enterprise and investigative podcasts from New Hampshire Public Radio.

2:15.1

So if you like Supervision, keep following this feed.
