parents are those, are the ones who care for and control the education and life of their children.

Well, when you have many public schools, public school teachers and administrators in our country,

thinking that they

are at least co-parents, if not surrogate parents, for their students, you need a law that emboldens

parents by articulating their rights regarding their children. Welcome back to Issues, Et cetera.

I'm Todd Wilkin, joining us to talk about a parent's

bill of rights law in Ohio. Pastor Roy Askins, executive editor of the Lutheran Witness

magazine, Director of Editorial for LCMS Communications, author of a recent column for the Federalist

titled New Ohio Law, stops teachers from talking to kids about sex behind their parents' backs.

Thank you, Todd. Good to be back. Tell us about this parents' rights bill that was signed into law by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. Yeah, it's really an interesting law. It's good to see

these laws going into place. The overall desire stated in the bill is to

reinforce the fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding the upbringing and

control of their children. So behind it, kind of the goal of this bill is to put the direction

of the education of children back into the hands of parents. So Republicans are calling

this bill a parent's bill of rights. We're seeing a number of these kind of across the country.
