And now for a moment of clarity.

There's a lot to unpack in all of this, but the core thread for me that kind of runs through this is of course political.

I know a little bit about politics and the politics here really stink.

Quite frankly, they suck because what they do is they distort the realities

and they distort things to make them look like something they're not. And I give as a good

example here, one Stephen Miller, senior advisor to the president, God knows what else he does in the White House.

But this is what he said last night on CNN.

There is an effort to delegitimize the core function of the federal government

of enforcing our immigration laws and our sovereignty.

It is domestic terrorism.

It is insurrection.

And no amount of insane hyperventilating lies from Pritzker or Johnson or any other Democratic official will change our minds on that.

ICE officers should not have to live in fear and violence to do their jobs, period.

So, Senator, no matter how much Stephen Miller tries to push through his authoritarian

constipation and force us to believe something that is not, in fact, the case that ICE agents

and officers living in fear of violence to do their jobs. Oh, so you're saying, Mr. Miller,

that American citizens should live in fear of ice agents?

Because that's not how the founders saw this whole relationship between the military, the police,

and the citizenry. Speak to that, if you could, for a moment, Senator, about how the politics

coming out of this White House is used as a weapon to distort and to, you know,

push out lies about what the government is and is not doing.
