When I came to Houston in 1989,

they were still in their prime,

the restaurant tours that made Houston famous in the 70s and 80s.

And it was a dream to meet these guys,

know these guys, know who these, you know,

hear the stories of how these guys started their businesses.

And there is one particular family that kind of orbits through

several of the major Houston restaurants.

There are lots of great restaurants,

the Fort Largest City, and it is a restaurant city at the top of its game.

But there were a couple of those institutions that don't just come and go.

They're around, they're where people have their rehearsal dinner.

They're where, if someone comes in from out of town, you want to take them.

They are, they are a Houston institution.

Tony Mandola has passed.

And the Tony Mandola six degrees of separation is two degrees for most

any restaurant you can imagine that has been important in this city for a long time.

His wife, Phyllis, is the only daughter of Mama Nympha.

So Phyllis Lorenzo, who was Mama Nympha's daughter,

her brother is Roland, who now, along with his son, the chef,

Dominant Lorenzo, run the L.T. Impos.
