0:12.8	Starting with President Trump's meeting with President Putin on Friday, this is a meeting that took
0:18.7	place at Joint Base Ellendorf Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.
0:23.6	It was meant to discuss the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and potentially find some sort of solution.
0:29.2	The meeting did take place in private. It lasted three hours with President Trump accompanied by
0:34.5	Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff. And then President Putin was accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff,

0:48.7	According to planning documents that were left behind at an Anchorage Hotel, the meeting was initially
0:55.7	supposed to be a two-on-two format with President Trump and Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff,
1:01.7	paired with President Putin and Kremlin aide Yuri Ushikov. However, as we know, the meeting was
1:09.1	later expanded to include one additional official from each side.
1:14.2	The documents left behind also showed that there was a formal lunch that had originally been included in the plans,
1:20.5	but that was later canceled when the meeting ran longer than expected.
1:25.6	While the specific details discussed during the private meeting
1:30.2	remain unclear to the public, we know that no ceasefire or any sort of formal deal to end
1:37.9	the war was reached. According to sources, they did discuss proposals for Russia to relinquish small areas of occupied Ukraine in exchange for Ukraine giving up a larger section of fortified land in the east, with both sides agreeing to not advance or try to capture new territory in those areas.
2:02.0	Secretary of State Rubio told reporters that the discussion narrowed down key issues,
2:07.2	which included drawing borders long-term security guarantees for Kiev and Ukraine's possible
2:14.9	military alliances. Special envoy Whitkoff told reporters that Putin agreed to
2:20.4	allow the United States and European nations to give Ukraine Article 5 like protection as a security
