I'm Bob Ryan. The Michael M.H. is that in a 50 year marriage we have never solved a very central issue.

Which is I am a Windows shut person and she is a Windows open person.

And this has been a source of great debate.

Loads these many years and it remains irresolable.

So first of all, I plan to ask Bob how he has been married for 50 years and what the secret is.

And here I discover a crack already in the near of this lifelong love romance.

And of course we've all been here before the window opened the window closed debate and the air conditioning on the fan on etc.

Now the best response I have to something that has plagued a relationship for 50 years is that you're probably not going to fix this.

If you've tried everything you've ever thought of over the last half century and nothing has pleased you both, then chances are someone will always be slightly unhappy when it comes to the window situation.

That being said, the best fix I can think of for the open window closed window air versus no air debate is to at least offer up the artificial alternative of a fan placed on the side of the bed for the person who is wishing for a breath of air or a breeze at night.

Now it's not going to replicate the freshness of the outside world, which is perhaps what Bob Ryan's wife is looking for.

But at the very least it will replicate the idea of a breeze in her face and only on the side of the bed that she's on there by allowing him to keep the window closed and be air free on his side.

It's not a perfect fix. I'll give you that much and sometimes the commission strikes out on these fixes, but it's the best I can offer you.

And the good news is you've still made it 50 years despite this terrible raging debate. So I think you kids have a future.

The commission has spoken.
