I think this is a common adage when you look at the league right before an expansion

gear like the WMBA is in, which is that it kind of gets harder to be bad.

The bad teams keep getting better. You're seeing exciting teams who are playing

coherent basketball and they might still not make it above the playoff line

because every team is improving. We're seeing more talent come into the league every year and it

doesn't have anywhere necessarily to go to expand.

Hello everybody and welcome to this week's edition of the late sub it is

Wednesday May 15th and we have some big games to discuss the W MBA is

officially back with an opening night slate that saw some

some duds, some grand slams, some great games and a few surprises.

Excited to break it down and then we're going to talk about where things are at

with the end of USL then we're going to talk about where things are at with the end of

U.S. L where we're seeing some separation at the top, some separation at the bottom,

and some really interesting match-ups in the middle as people buy for playoff position.

All right, so we're going to start with some of the biggest

news of the week which is of course W NBA opening night tip off it's been a

flurry of activity starting at the beginning of this week we got final cuts for

rosters everyone set their official 11 or 12 player opening day roster and then we

got right into games and they did not mess around we got to see Caitlin Clark in the dub for the first time.

We got to see the two finalists last year, see what they look like at the beginning of 2024.

We got to see some rebuilding teams. We got to see some teams that have gone really aggressive and free agency. It was a fantastic first night
