Two years ago, I spent a few months in a homeless shelter.

It was a low point for me like it was for so many people.

My job as a line cook at a fine dining restaurant was a casualty of the pandemic.

My savings dried up quickly.

The people who I would usually rely on during hard times weren't fairing any better than

I was.

Before I knew it, I was on the streets.

Eviction protection came too late for me.

I shuffled aimlessly from place to place trying to stay warm.

It was the most difficult four months of my life.

Just as I was at my wit's end, a lady directed me toward a long-term shelter where I was

lucky enough to get a bed.

It was a godsend, reliable housing and food were something I took for granted for so

many years.
