Hello, welcome to a good read. Today, my guests are the actor Neil Pearson and the farmer, Wilfred Emmanuel Jones. Born in Jamaica, Wilfrid was four when he moved to the UK, where he grew up in Inner City Birmingham. Then unqualified but persistent, he says, he talked his way into television, becoming a producer-director for the BBC. But having promised himself as a child that one day he'd buy his own farm, that eventually is what he did.

He now farms in Devon and markets his own range of sausages and other meats under the Black Farmer label.

In 2005, he launched a scheme to allow young people from the inner cities to experience what it's actually like living and working on the land.
