Okay, this is Beth. Listen, what we live for at Living Proof is to serve people the Word

of God. We base our ministry on Hebrews 412 that tells us that the Word is alive and

active. We pray this message is going to serve you in some way today and that God is

So would you turn with me please to Genesis chapter 4 because it turns out that our first

glimpse of the priesthood is not going to be the first place the Word priest is used.

It's going to be the first place we see the activity given. So turn with me to Genesis

chapter 4. One of the things I love about the Word of God is that there are some things

we're just not ever going to figure out. It's just too bad today that we can't finish

the lesson. Get in small groups and really just talk this thing through because if you

have studied these passages at any time in your believing life they've caused you to wonder

to ask some pretty deep questions because they bring up all so this is fodder for discussion

if you're ever going to see it. So I want to begin by giving you just a little captive

kind of presentation of the evolution of the priesthood and then we're going to start in

our scriptures today. If we are to receive as truth that the first glimpse we get of the priesthood

is in Genesis chapter 4 and I'm ready to do that. I'm convinced at this point. Then what you're

going to see I've got you a series of blanks there and arrows pointing down to the next portion

and the next portion and the evolution of priest and the priesthood it begins with individuals.

So that top blank is going to be individuals. Priesthood began by individuals as as the

lexical aid said and then walk he said it began with individuals with can enable specifically

individually on their own bringing an offering to God but then it evolves into heads of families.
