Hi there from CNN. I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Friday, June 20th.

The two-week timer has started for Iran and Israel to reach a diplomatic solution

before President Donald Trump says he'll decide whether the U.S. will get involved.

U.S. officials say the hope is that Iran will back down on some of its hardline positions

over a nuclear deal,

and accept terms it had previously rejected, like stopping uranium enrichment.

But sources said Iran has repeatedly made it clear it won't take part in any more talks with

the U.S. until Israeli attacks end. And so far, there are no signs of de-escalation from either side.

Iran's foreign minister will be meeting with European officials today, though, for nuclear

talks in Geneva. Meanwhile, the head of the UN's nuclear watchdog says the evidence it gathered

on Iran's nuclear program could, quote, hardly be a basis for any military

action. After its first wave of attacks, Israel pointed to the International Atomic Energy

Agency's report that acknowledged Iran was violating nuclear agreements by enriching uranium.
