Very lucky to have with me today a rock and roll legend.

Robbie Robertson, there's a new documentary called Once Were Brothers, Robbie Robertson in the band, and it's a pretty revelatory documentary, even if you think you know the story of the band, you've seen the last waltz, you've read a book or two,

0:25.8

there's still lots to learn here. And Robbie, I'm sure you've heard that from people,

0:30.1

that they might have thought they'd known this story and yet this movie really does break some new ground.

0:35.6

Yeah, they did a fantastic job actually in digging and going to a deeper place and it surprised me too because I wasn't micromanaging this at all I just

0:49.3

got out of the way and when they ask me,

0:53.0

listen, we need to talk to you about some of these things.

0:57.0

I did the interviews and it was enjoyable, you know, the process doing them, but then they just went off and did it and when they came back, and when I say they, it was mainly Daniel Rohr, the director, but there was other people involved in it who were

extremely dedicated and extremely helpful in this as well and that grew that there was more people helping us in it and ultimately

1:58.0

And that emotional button that comes across in this film I really felt good about that and there was

2:08.2

some areas in this where in the structure and everything that when you know one of the executive

2:16.5

producers honored is Martin Scarsessi and when he came in his main thing was, okay, you've got to move this to here and that to there because

2:29.0

it's getting in the way of this emotional journey and you can't you can't take away from that and so everybody

2:38.6

was like oh my god that's right okay and blah blah. So all and all the contribution that everybody

2:46.7

made to this turned it into something that was unexpected to me and I think it's unexpected to the viewers as well that you see this

2:58.4

thing that this story and everything that it really goes to a deeper place.

3:04.0

It's funny, you can look at the story of the band as a triumph.

3:08.0

I think there's a lot of arguments to see it that way.
