post, as you know, I invite you to pull up a chair and listen in as I have conversations

with thinkers and leaders on a whole range of issues, and I'm often surprised where those conversations go because we're always

looking for what Walker Percy called signposts in a strange land and

today I want to talk about a book that fascinated me

when I read it and as I've mentioned before I can tell when a book has really engaged me based upon whether I read

it really fast or really slowly.

Either one of those can mean that a book has really engaged me and this one I read very slowly a lot of

notes to myself a lot of underlining and if anything I think the book is more important

now than it was when it was released a few months ago.

We saw the insurrection at the Capitol with images of what's being called the Q shaman there along with people waving Jesus

saves signs and a lot of people are wondering what's going on with religion in America. I included this book,

Strange Rights New Religions for a Godless World on my top 10 books of 2020,

and this is what I said at the time. Creed Bratton of the

office said I've been a member of several cults both as a follower and as a

leader. You have more fun as a follower but there's more money as a leader. You have more fun as a follower, but there's more money as a leader.
