Summary

Here's today's question: How can I set healthy boundaries that honor myself and others?

One listener asked: “How can Buddhism help me and my family with setting boundaries? Setting boundaries at work seems easier than with family stuff.”

Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo about our situation ensures that we make our decisions based on wisdom, courage and compassion, rather than trends or emotion.

Welcome back to bootability. We're on break from new interviews, but excited to continue our special

0:12.4

Q&A mini-series with you in the meantime. Each week, we're answering one question that a listener

0:18.2

asks about any aspect of Buddhist practice or how to apply

0:22.3

Buddhism to daily life. I'm your host, Ji Jhaji Jali. Here's today's question. How can Buddhism

0:33.3

help me and my family with setting boundaries. Setting boundaries at work seems easier than with

0:39.6

family staff, such as aging family members, finances, etc. First of all, what a great question,

1:26.0

basis to bring out our compassion, courage, and

1:29.5

wisdom each day, and taking action based on that. No one can tell you how to navigate your situation

1:36.6

and blindly following trends about wellness or psychology, which are everywhere on social media

1:42.6

these days, can be detrimental if we aren't using our own

1:46.0

wisdom. So, I first encourage you to chant Namyo Hōrenge Kyo about your situation

1:51.9

and ensure that you're making decisions based on wisdom, courage, and compassion, rather than

1:58.1

trends or emotion. Now, let's discuss boundaries.

2:03.3

Setting boundaries can be essential for our happiness, but, like all meaningful acts in life,

2:09.3

doing so requires hard work and courage.
