Well, we come today back to the Shunamite woman in 2nd Kings Chapter 4.

If you're just joining us, this is a woman who lived in the town of Shunum.

We don't know her name, but she's called the Shunamite, the woman who lived in the town of Shunum.

And we've seen that she is a wealthy woman who extends hospitality to the servant of the Lord,

Elisha, who is the prophet of God.

So let me just backtrack and read the paragraph we read in the last session, beginning in

verse 8, and then we'll continue in this passage. One day Elishan went on to Shunham, where a wealthy

woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there

to eat food. And she said to her husband, behold now, I know that this is a

holy man of God who is continually passing our way. Let us make a small room on the roof with walls

and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp so that whenever he comes to us, he can go in there.

Now, when you think of a room on the roof, don't think of our peaked roofs, think of a flat roof,

and just building a structure, adding on a room to the house, and that was the place where it could most easily be added on.

So this woman and her husband opened their home, they open their hearts, they show hospitality to the prophet

Elisha. It reminds me of what the apostle Paul says to Philemon in verse 7 of that epistle.

He says, I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints
