Today's episode of A Brave Writers' Life in Brief is a little more personal and intimate than

I usually share.

I've been asked the same question repeatedly over the last 10 years.

It's come via private message on Instagram.

It's come in long scrolling emails to my personal email address.

I've had parents address me at conferences

whispering the question behind a cupped hand

into my ear.

And there's a reason for all of this caution and privacy in asking this question.

The question is, how do I know if I should get a divorce?

A related question that I'm also asked is,

I'm getting a divorce and I don't know what to do about my children.

These two questions, however, presuppose a third question.

And so I want to broaden the scope of today's topic to include the bigger question, which is,

what's a healthy home life for children? That's what we'll address today and I will talk

about your marriage. I will talk about reasons to divorce and reasons not to.

And then we'll talk about how to salvage or support

homeschooling in the midst of all of those dynamics.

So I invite you to stay, even if you're in a really happy marriage and you see no likelihood that your children will end up having to choose where to live.
