Brexit is about sovereignty and it's about democracy. Sometimes when you hear the debate around this,

it's as if Northern Ireland was not quite part of the UK in the same way that every other

part of the UK is. It has the same rights and the same privileges as every other bit of the country.

In the long run, I don't think you can easily manage arrangements that are ambiguous about

sovereignty. You can manage practicalities in different ways, but either the province is part

of the UK or it isn't and it is that the protocols got to change or disappear. The only question is how.

Lord Frost. David Frost is a civil servant politician and life peer. He was Britain's chief Brexit

negotiator from January 2020 until his resignation in December 2021. He played a central role in

revising the Brexit withdrawal agreement and injuring up a free trade agreement with the EU during

the Brexit transition period. He resigned from Boris Johnson's government in December last year

over the government's plans for Covid passports, its net zero policies and its failure to fully
