What we do on this podcast, A Brave Writers' Life in Brief, is examine a slice of the homeschooling experience.

We do that by interviewing people.

We do that by paying attention to the zeitgeist in the homeschooling movement.

During this season, we are taking your questions,

and I am taking 20 minutes, half hour,

to answer them, to help you have an opportunity to think about what you might do

differently, how you might prepare, how homeschooling might work for you.

So today's topic was sent to me by a mom

who had just left her full-time job.

She is considering staying home in the fall and for the first time is realizing

that she could work from home and do homeschooling. Now some of you listening may not have outside employment and this

podcast episode will have plenty for you as well. As we look ahead to the fall of

2020 you are either down under, you know, in New Zealand or South

America or Australia thinking about the second semester that will follow your

midwinter holiday, or you are in the northern hemisphere,

and we are ramping up for the start of our new school year.

But this year is different than any other. We are not going into this year with the same sense of

confidence, the same tools and resources and experiences that are the supports we rely on to help us be good

homeschoolers. No, instead, we're coming in with a lot of uncertainty. We've got the

COVID problem globally, which unless you live in New Zealand is not

gone yet. We have the United States in particular really floundering trying to figure out whether they can reopen schools,
