Today I'm delighted to bring you our featured guest, Thomas W. Tierney, and our topic,

A Day in the Life, what's it really like to be a business litigator? Welcome, Tom. Thank you.

Thanks, Don. It's a pleasure to have you on the show.

Tom Tierney grew up in Minneapolis.

He's the oldest of four children.

He attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated with high honors in 1987.

He moved to San Francisco and taught middle school for two years and attended law school in San Francisco at the University

of California Hastings College of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 1992.

Tom worked in litigation boutique law firms in San Diego from 1992 to 2000.

In 2000, he moved to Vero Beach, Florida, and began working at the Rossway Swan firm, became a partner in 2003, and continues to work there today.

Tom is married to Lisa Cayley and has two children, Ella and Gavin.

Tom, as we've discussed, before each of the day in the life interviews, we like to give some statistics on the

occupation of profession from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and also from U.S. News and

World Reports 100 best jobs. So the profession of law ranks number 38 out of 100 best jobs in the

last report. It ranks number 17 in the best paying jobs and number four

in the best social service jobs. There are, within the last year, 1,352,027 lawyers. Of those, 38% or
