My pleasure to have you on the show.

Martha Dunagan-Sanders is the sixth president of the University of West Florida.

In her 30-plus years in higher educations, Dr. Saunders has served in academic and leadership roles at universities in Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Mississippi.

Her area of academic expertise is in public relations

and crisis communication for which she has won numerous awards. Well, as we have discussed in pre-interview

chats, everyone's life is about turning points or passages from the day we're born until we leave this plane of existence.

So take us into the backstory of Martha Dugan Sanders, where it all began, family of origin,

and just tell us about some of the people and events and choices and changes that have gotten you where you are today.

Oh, goodness, I'm pretty old, so this could take the whole interview.

Well, I was born in Mississippi, and my mother was a registered nurse,

and my dad worked at the local factory, Hercules, powder company, they called it then.

Mother was one of the few moms that worked.
