Hello, homeschoolers, and suddenly at homeschoolers. This is Julie Bogart from Brave Writer. This week on the

podcast we are going to push the pause button on the questions from parents,

reading reviews, having an ad, that's not what today's podcast is about.

Today I would like to address this global, unique moment where homeschooling is suddenly center stage and millions of

families are experiencing a lifestyle change that is similar in some ways and dissimilar in others from the choice many of you made

that I made to actually do this homeschooling project.

I have noticed that this change in behavior, this move from having kids in

school to having their education thrust on you is creating a serious amount of anxiety, confusion, disruption to what was considered

ordinary life.

But if that isn't enough, parents who used to send their kids to school and then climb into the car and drive to an office are now also home trying to conduct a 40 hour work week while they educate their children using a packet

or an online school system that was given to them that they don't know about.

They didn't create it.

They don't know the thinking behind it. So we are

thrown into this brand new skill set that is unlike typical homeschooling,

the kind that I did, the kind that many of you who are my listeners did.

So what I want to do today is kind of take a look at homeschooling as a philosophy, at this practice of school at home that many of you are engaging in for the first

time. And if you are a homeschooler and have relatives, friends who are in this predicament,

this is the podcast to send them to. And then I want

us to also look at the dynamic of what happens when you combine working from home with educating at home. And of course I've done both. I was

joking the other night with my boyfriend Jim. It's like I was born for this moment, right? I mean, I've literally only ever worked from home and I did it

while I homeschooled five kids for 17 years. I have completely experienced social distancing in isolation by living in a foreign country

nowhere near any Americans, only able to use the goods and services available there.
