stories of the Bible. Hello and welcome back. If you've been following along

then you know that we have been learning about the Prophet Elijah. In our last episode we learned

how Elijah called on the name of the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and he heard from heaven and sent fire to consume the altar and everything on it.

God revealed himself to Elijah and the Israelites that day as the one true and living God.

Well, not everyone was happy about this.

When King Ahab told Queen Jezebel that Elijah had ordered her prophets of bail to be

killed and that he had rebuilt the altar of Yawe.

She was furious. Queen Jezebel was not going to stand by and let this happen.

Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah saying,

May the gods deal with me be it ever so severely if by this time tomorrow I do not make

your life like that of one of the prophets you had killed. Well true seekers this put fear in the heart of Elijah. For just a moment,

Elijah let his guard down and instead of listening to the voice of Yawe, he listened to the voice of Jezebel.

He let her voice get in his head and it caused him fear.

He was afraid and ran for his life.

When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there,

while he himself went a day's journey into the desert.

There he came to a broom tree, sat down under it, and do you know what he

prayed?

Elijah prayed that he might die. He was so discouraged. He was under great depression. He was weary from all that had just happened. He felt the weight of all the sin in the land and the weight of an evil queen who was out to get

him. He said to the Lord, take my life. I am no better than my ancestors. Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep.
