Joe Bamshell news on Friday from the New York Times that former President Donald

Jay Trump pressed top justice department officials late last year to declare that the election

was corrupt even though they had found no instances of widespread fraud so that he and his allies

in Congress could stage a fucking coup.

This was an attempted coup, an attempt to steal an election and weaponizing the justice

department in the process that's both illegal and pretty much the most un-American thing

you can come up with in your wild imagination.

The report from the Times Katie Banner is based upon contemporaneous notes from Richard

P. Donahue taken during a phone call on December 27th as Trump pushed acting attorney general

Jeffrey Rosen to intercede on his behalf in a futile effort to stay in power.

Mr. Donahue warned that the department had no power to change the outcome of the election.

Mr. Trump replied that he did not expect that according to notes Donahue took memorializing

the conversation.

Just say that the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me.

Donahue wrote in summarizing Trump's response.

More reaction tonight to those stunning new details on just how the twice impeached

former president tried to overturn an election.

According to the Times, Trump did not name the lawmakers, but at other points during the

call, he mentioned Representative Jim Jordan whom he described as a fighter, representative

Scott Perry, who at the time promoted the idea that the election was stolen from the

former president and sent it to Ron Johnson whom Mr. Trump praised for getting to the
