delve into Chelsea's amazing history. My name is Gary Burrow and I'm joined

to you by the gracious current club historian Rick Lambrough.

Hi mate, yourself Gary. Hey, now I have been looking at a fascinating

in-depth report from July 2004 by a bunch called Wessex Archeology. Now this is a

history podcast, right? And this is all about a site they excavated in the rural Surrey,

just south of London. They dunked trenches and discovered beautiful shirts of medievals,

12th-century pottery, mysterious, prehistoric ditches, and really fascinating examples

of flint napped into cutting tools by our Bronze Age ancestors, thousands of years ago.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, come on, come on, what, what?

Hang on there. Now I sensed a trap, but I'm going to play the game.

What has all this got to do with the history of the books?

It sounds more like an Indiana Jones plot. It's all to do with fine smell, mate.

The link is fines. That site, Wessex Archeology excavated, was in Cobham.

And the work was done in preparation for a new domed, covered pitch for our academy teams

at what would eventually become Chelsea's home from home, the Cobham Training Centre.

Where, of course, we unearthed some of the finest talent in the world.

Unearth, I like it, unearthed, right? So I do get it as if I hadn't actually registered.
