This is the Grenfell Tower Inquiry podcast. A new podcast every day the inquiry sits. I'm Eddie

Mayor. Now the inquiry, as you know, is being chaired by Sir Martin Moore Bick. And earlier in the

week, he received a painting of Grenfell Tower from a family as part of the memorials which

have been taking place every day. Before things really started this morning, there was a rare

moment of levity at the inquiry when Sir Martin took a moment to reference something he'd been given

by a member of the Shukair family who we talked about on Tuesday. Before we hear the first of our commemorations, I have a word of thanks to say.

Mrs. Konu Shouka has obviously been doing her baking this morning,

and she brought in two loaves of Lebanese bread.

They look extremely tasty.

One for my ushers, one for me and perhaps my team,

if they're well behaved. Anyway, thank you very much indeed. We look forward to eating them later on.

Thank you. And then it was on to the serious business at hand. You might remember on Monday we heard

from Richard Millett QC, lead counsel to the inquiry.

He paid tribute to some of the families who, for their own reasons,

had decided not to publicly commemorate the relatives at this inquiry.

because they now felt able to contribute more fully to the inquiry.
