Israel's pro-minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has approved a Lebanon ceasefire deal, quote, in principle.

That's what a source familiar with the matter told CNN, saying Netanyahu gave the approval

during a consultation

with Israeli officials last night. But the source said Israel still has reservations about

some details of the agreement, which are expected to be put to the Lebanese government today.

The whole deal is still being negotiated, and multiple sources stressed it will not be final until all the issues

have been resolved.

Plus, it would still need the approval of the Israeli cabinet.

Hezbollah has been reviewing the agreement ever since it was put forward by the US and

Israel, and it proposes a 60-day ceasefire as a basis to start talks for a permanent end

to the fighting.

This comes as the death toll from the conflict in Lebanon has passed 3,000 people, all

killed since mid-September.

President-elect Donald Trump is set to face his next test as he tries to get his cabinet

picks confirmed by the Senate.
