Hello from CNN I'm Taylor Galgano with the five things you need to know for Monday

September 25th.

Hollywood writers could be back at work within days.

The Writers Guild of America says it's reached a tentative deal with

major TV and film studios that could potentially end the nearly five month long

strike. We don't know any of the details of the agreement yet and members of the Union still need to vote on whether to accept it.

CNN's Camilla Bernal is in Los Angeles and says there's still a long way to go.

A lot of the writers that I talked to have told me they're excited, they're relieved.

One of them told me I'm ready to go back to making magic.

I'm ready to go back to telling stories.

But the guild is telling them not yet.

No one is allowed to return to work.

They're saying they need to figure out the legal language.

First, what they described it as is just dotting every single eye.

CNN media critic Brian Lowry says the strike succeeded because of the unity within the union.

Writers are not all the same.

Feature writers are a little bit different from television writers and veterans showrunners are different from people who are just breaking in and maybe only have one or two credits.

So to their credit, the guild managed to keep all of those various constituencies together.

The clock is ticking for Congress to prevent a government shutdown with lawmakers up against a Saturday

deadline.

So far, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy hasn't been able to get a group of hard-line Republicans

to get on board with the GOP short-term deal.
