All right, let us waste no time because we have such an agenda here at the start of today's show.

0:21.2

Updated numbers for Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate in what now are midterm

0:26.9

elections that are just about six weeks away.

0:29.9

Those continue to improve for Democrats in both the House and Senate, although Democrats

0:35.9

are still not favored to win in the House.

0:38.3

Let's look at the numbers in the 538 forecast for the Senate 2022.

0:44.8

It is now a 71% chance that Democrats will win and only a 29% chance that Republicans

0:52.5

will win.

0:53.5

Most likely outcomes are Democrats maintaining a 50 50 majority because Kamala Harris would

1:00.0

be the tie breaking vote vote or Democrats having a 51 to 49 advantage.

1:05.6

The way that these numbers have changed over the last several months is directly in the

1:10.4

favor of Democrats.

1:11.8

As you can see, if you're looking at the screen at the beginning of June, Democrats had

1:15.7

about a 40% chance of holding the Senate that has climbed steadily to a new high of 71%.

1:23.0

Now, things that happen 29% likely to happen happen 29 out of every hundred times.

1:32.6

So that doesn't mean that there is any guarantee here.

1:35.4

But right now, the most mathematically likely scenario is Democrats holding the Senate, either

1:40.8

50 50 or 51 to 49.

1:44.0

Now over in the House, the numbers are not looking as good for Democrats, but the numbers

1:49.4

are closing in on basically a two to one likelihood of Republicans taking the House, which

1:56.1

is far worse for Republicans than it has been at any previous point during this election

2:02.3

cycle.
