The laughs you hear are from someone I wanted to get on today's show because I've been immersed in his work through a bunch of this series.

It's actually been something I've been thinking about consistently in this series and that is the shot quality that each team has.

We'll get to that in a second, but in general, when I think of a playoff series, I talk about this all the time. We've got small samples. We've got noise, we've got luck, We've got variants and so sometimes you watch a game and the home team wins you know 121 110 they have win by 11 and it's kind of in line with the quality of the looks each team was

getting but that's what you're really looking for early in a series if you're

trying to figure out adjustments that are going to be made or

need to be made or the direction of the series and how teams are exerting their

strength and their success on the court relative to each other. So, enter the concept of shot quality and small samples.

And as I said last episode with Seth Part Now,

I was not aware of any really good public models who were taking into account a ton of the kind of variables

that have historically been very hard to take into account until Until now, lo and behold, brought to my attention right after that podcast is a shock

quality metric developed by this man all the way from New York.
