Then and his wife just returned from a seven-night cruise on Carnival Liberty. I said seven-night because he did a back-to-back, so a three-night and then a four-night. It went to Nassau, Princess Key, and Bimini. How you doing, bud? Doing great. Thanks for having me. Yeah, I'm happy to talk to you about this back-to-back you did on Carnival Liberty. So we'll get some pre-crues thoughts starting out here. What made you want to sail this back-to-back on Carnival Liberty? Yeah, we'd never done a back-to-back before, and it wasn't originally what we'd planned. We were supposed to be on the oasis of the seas, and they were going to Lobody, and we didn't know what was going to happen with that port. So I called up my agent and I said, you know, if we go on Carnival, I saw a promotion where we can get $500 of onboard credit. And I said, could they apply it to both ends of the back to back? And he called and after thinking that wouldn't happen, he called and said, yeah, they actually would. So we got a $500 credit on the front end and the back end of the back to

back. So that made it completely just a no-brainer to go do that since we got basically every drink paid for. So that was the reason we decided to do it for our anniversary. And I think it was a really good decision from a financial standpoint because it was a great budget cruise, but also a lot of fun ports to do. Yeah, for sure. So did you do any pre-crued time in central Florida?

1:10.5

Yeah, we stayed with So did you do any pre-cruised time in

1:28.2

Central Florida? Yeah, we stayed with my mom and dad in St. Simons, actually, right before we went down

1:33.6

there. So we drove from Atlanta to stay with them, and then we went from there to the port and

1:37.8

parked at Park Port Canaveral, which is actually a really good shuttle service there that takes

1:43.7

you just 15 minutes away to the port and stuff having to park directly there. And we've tried other off-site services, but really the problem we ran to them is the shuttles were so slow and they made you stand there in like the heat on the parking lot. This service, they would put you on the actual shuttle while you waited. So you didn't have to stand out there without air conditioning, which was really nice. Awesome. All right. So you make your way down to Port Canaveral, you park, and you're at the cruise pier. How was embarkation and how long did it take you from curb to the ship? Yeah, it was really pretty easy. Uh, they put us, it's the same, we've been on the Mardi Gras last year before and it was the same area where there's this huge ramp that you go up to get to the top of the terminal. And you stand on

2:22.2

the ramp for about five minutes. You walk up. They let you in and buy your times when you go in there,

2:27.3

so everybody's defined very specifically by the times. You go in, it's air-conditioned inside.

2:32.1

We spent about 15 minutes in line. The only confusing

2:34.9

part for them was I had both security passes for both legs of the cruise, and that just threw

2:41.3

everybody off. If I was going to recommend anybody doing a back-to-back, don't bring both

2:45.7

to the thing because they get super confused what cruise you're on. So, just bring the one for the first leg and the second leg takes care of itself. After that, we were on the ship within about 20 minutes. Have you been on Carnival Liberty before? No. This is our first time on Carnival Liberty. Yeah. Okay. So you walk on board the ship. What were your first impressions? So it's, it's an older ship. It's not as big. Like I said, the prior one we had done was the Mardi Gras, so obviously a lot smaller. But what I loved in the first impression of the ship is it has a central atrium in it that goes all the way up, right? So you can see, you know, up 11 decks to the very top of the ship from where you first walk in. And I think that's a super cool feature. Also, you know, it's got some of that older style carnival decor. We did a cruise

3:29.9

on the elation as one of our first cruises and it's kind of, some people might think it's gaudy.

3:33.8

In this case, I think it's kind of cool because it's the Liberty has a very like wrought iron

3:39.1

sort of feel to it.
