says, I wondered if there was anything in my chart pointing towards my gender identity.

I identify as a trans boy and use they-he pronouns. Over the last two years, I've been

coming to terms with my gender identity, but it was such a struggle coming out to my

family and friends, and it was one of the reasons I dropped out of med school. I know I'm

trans, and I'm slowly becoming proud of that fact, or so many trans icons also, but

I wondered if there was anything in my chart about questions over gender or the struggle

with coming to terms with it. Yours, Sysent. Sysent was born March 30, 1996 at 3, 10am in Birmingham,

England. So the answer is layered, because what is gender? Let's start with that. What is

gender? Is gender about external presentation? Is gender about a feeling? Is gender something

that we can read outside of the context of the time and culture that we live in? I don't

know, because ultimately, gender is a construct. Now, that's not the only thing that's true.

And this is where it gets really complicated for most of us, unless we have like super

easy binary genders that fit easily into the world that we are inhabiting. When I look

to the question of gender, it has so much to do with so many layers, so many layers of

being. Many of the things that I see as associated with gender queerness, being non-binary, or

being in transition, so not having transition to a destination, but being in transition with

one's gender, those very same things may not actually manifest as a gender issue or gender
