Summary

LIVE QUESTIONS - Sabbath, Essential Oils, Free Will, and Marriage. - April 27th, 2017 1. What is your take on keeping the Sabbath day Holy? It is one of the 10 commandments of the "old" covenant and I know Jesus is the "new" covenant, however Jesus said he had not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. I can find scriptural arguments for both sides. 2. I work in an intensive care unit. Why do christians place so much faith in essential oils and so little faith in science? Thanks 3. Do we really have free will? If so how does God know which decision we are going to make? I guess I struggle with the idea of pre-destination. How can we believe in someone being pre-designed to be a murderer, rapist, mental health issues, commit suicide, and any other bad things in the world. Does that mean if someone commits suicide or does something bad they have no choice in the matter. I really struggle this idea. Please help clarify. 4. What do you do when you really want to get married, but it doesn't seem like you're able to meet someone good for you? Does God care about this at all? So we're part of the Vox team. We have a church called Vox Community and a

0:11.7

podcast called the Vaux Podcast

0:13.6

and both communities generate loads of questions.

0:17.8

And part of our podcast, sort of our slogan

0:20.8

is talk about anything and our church is safe to belong and so we feel like

0:25.4

one of the ways we honor those tags is by taking questions so here we go Andy. What do we got? Okay. All right. Number one. All right. Here we go. What is your take on keeping the Sabbath day holy? It is one of the 10

0:41.5

Commandments of the Old Covenant and I know Jesus is the new Covenant.

0:45.8

True.

0:46.8

However, Jesus said he had not come to abolish this law but to fulfill it.

0:51.6

That's true. I can find scriptural arguments for both sides.

0:54.4

Okay I like it so Sabbath day. The short answer which is what you want right Andy is

1:00.8

is that anything that belong to the old covenant unless we're

1:04.8

Israelites living in those days we are not under that so when it says that

1:10.1

Christ came to not destroy the law but fulfill it, those are rabbinical terms we've actually talked about in another answer on I think Facebook about the fact that Jesus is showing how to rightly interpret the Torah. It's not that he's coming

1:25.1

into, hey guys, you know, let's recalibrate the Ten Commandments. Nope, Jesus does have

1:32.8

commandments, of course. Jesus summarized the entire law

1:37.2

under Love God, Love, neighbor.

1:39.2

So Sabbath does not fall under covenant law at all. falls under wisdom in other words we're foolish

1:45.5

if we don't do Sabbath keeping but it's not that we're sinning if we don't it's just

1:50.7

foolish so so Sabbath for me is a wisdom command. It's not a

1:55.3

covenantal command because we're not we're not Israelites and part of I think

1:58.4

what Christians do with the Bible that and I don't it's saying you're doing it at
