Summary

According to the polls, it should be in the bag for London's Labour mayor Sadiq Khan in this week's elections - but his camp are rattled that complacency will suppress turnout and help his opponents. We talk about his policies on housing, transport, decriminalising cannabis, reforming the police - and whether Keir Starmer should resign if election results are bad.

I see. Thanks for joining me, campaigning, Sedeek, on the road, traveling across London,

0:11.8

but taking time out to speak to us, very, very honest, how you doing, Sedeek?

0:15.6

I'm a baron. I've been seeing for ages and person. It's a lovely speech, you know, and

0:20.1

I've been following how busy you've been doing stuff and good luck with the book.

0:23.2

Well, thank you. Yeah, I mean, writing books is not quite as physically

0:27.3

hard as you're starting to imagine. There is campaigning to be reelected as London

0:30.9

there. Well, and actually, Sedeek is, if you look at the polls, it's in the bag, but

0:34.4

I would put it to you that you could end up being badly hit by a lot of people being

0:41.4

pretty complacent partly because people just think, ah, Labour in the back in London,

0:46.3

but also Sean Bailey's a joke candidate. I mean, he's run a kind of how-not-to-run a political

0:51.4

campaign campaign, which has been quite amusing to watch in lots of ways, but maybe a lot

0:56.5

of people go, he's going to win. Sean Bailey's going to tank. There's a pandemic on. I'm

1:02.8

not going to vote. But elections are really serious. They're

1:06.0

really important. My concern is what you're leading to. Some people are thinking, in

1:11.2

vertical numbers, it's in the bag. So, Sedeek doesn't need my vote. Sedeek's fine. He's

1:15.2

won the election. Or some people are voting for a small party and the Tories sneaking

1:21.8

home. And I'd remind those watching this or listen to this. As recently as five years

1:26.5

ago, London had a Tory mayor. In the 21 years, we've had mayors in London, the Tories

1:32.4

have either won or come second. The only person that can beat the Tories is me. And so

1:37.5

I say those two, those watching this, who've got progressive values, liberal values, green

1:43.8

values, Labour supporters, treasuness activists, it's really important that you vote on Thursday,

1:50.2

all three votes to Labour. Many of those listening and watching this, normally knock
