And welcome to episode 80 of Geek's Guide to the Galaxy.

Our guest today is Gregory McGuire,

author of the best-selling novel Wicked, which retels The Wizard of Oz from the point of view of

Elphaba Throp, The Wicked Witch of the West. A musical adaptation of the story has been the highest

grossing show on Broadway for the past nine years.

McGuire also wrote three sequels to Wicked, Son of a witch, a lion among men, and last year's

out of Oz, which he says will be his last Oz book.

So John's a lot busier these days than when we first started doing this

podcast.

He's now married with kids and is editing both light speed and nightmare magazines. And that's in addition to all the anthologies he does.

And it's getting to be more challenging for him to always make time to prep for and record every single segment of every single episode.

So I think what we're going to do is experiment with just having me record more of the segments on my own.

And we expect John will still be around for most of the panels in many of the interviews, but it'll just depend on his schedule.
